As of November, 2008, discussions were underway with congressional leadership on a new economic stimulus package. There is a strong possibility that the focus will shift from individual payments to rebuilding infrastructure and to transition workers to new occupations. David Baime with AACC requested from CRD a listing of existing programs at community colleges with strong track records that can make a difference in 3 to 6 months. The following PDF files are a summary of the survey. They arearranged by areas of the country into four quadrants. States are listed west to east and north to south. The range is remarkable and a testament to our agility and responsiveness. David Baime is already at work with our representatives using this data to support a stimulus package that would include short-term training and retraining at the nation's community colleges.
