Welcome to the CRD
Governance Task Force Website
In a process that began with reviewing CRD regional structures, the CRD board of directors has convened a Governance Task Force to examine full governance and volunteer leadership restructuring. The Task Force was convened in August 2009. This website will serve as the primary communication tool to our membership to keep you all informed of process and progress, and to invite participation at various stages. Please refer to it often for updates.

Implementation Task Force
Co-Chaired by Laura Qaissaunee, Catherine Crary and John Rainone. This task force determines what changes need to be made in our governing documents, the implementation strategies for the new model, and a timeline for implementation. The group has begun its work and welcomes volunteers. Contact Laura Qaissaunee, Catherine Crary, or John Rainone if you are interested in volunteering on the Implementation Task Force.

Models Committee
Chaired by Kim Sturgeon. The Models Sub-Committee worked to produce a proposed new CRD governance and volunteer leadership model which they brought to the full board for action at the July 16 full board meeting. Kim Sturgeon had reviewed the model with several key constituencies, including the Regional Directors, members of the CRD Board of Directors and the CRD Trustees and Lifetime Members and the full membership via webinars.
The proposed model, developed in response to concerns expressed by the membership as well as extensive research on effective associations, represents significant changes to the way CRD currently conducts governance and operations. The model is being presented in terms of critical FUNCTIONS of the organization, with the goal of facilitating mission-driven and member-focused planning and programming into the future. Details such as specific volunteer positions, job descriptions, election/nomination processes, etc. is now the work of the Implementation Committee
CRD members who would like to get involved as volunteers working on any aspect of the implementation phase will have the opportunity to do so! Please contact Laura Qaissaunee, Catherine Crary, or John Rainone.

The Models Committee deserves a huge pat on the back for their diligent and timely work! Thank you to Kim Sturgeon, Mary Brumbach, Stephanie Rogers, John Rainone, Catherine Crary, Julie Erickson, Debbie Douma and Stephanie Melvin. You are how CRD connects, educates, supports, strengthens, and celebrates community college development professionals!
Focus Groups Committee
Chaired by Tish Williams and Catherine Crary. This committee developed questions and conducted focus groups at the National Conference in November, 2009. Prior to the conference, they conducted a focus group with the CRD board of directors, and during the conference they conducted focus groups with CRD members at large. The summary of these focus groups can be found at the following links:

Personal Interviews Committee
Chaired by Kay Strickland and Kris Culp. The Governance Task Force wanted to ensure that CRD members not able to attend the National Conference would be afforded the opportunity to provide input into the restructuring process. Invitations to participate in personal interviews were sent to the general membership. In addition, the Regional Directors also contacted their membership. Personal interviews are currently being conducted by the Regional Directors. When the summary of those findings are complete in April, they will also be posted at this website.
