Consultant Exclusion List
If you are considering hiring a consultant to aid you in Talent Search and EOC proposal review or to develop your proposal, you might want to be sure that the consultant is not excluded from doing business with the Department of Education or other federal agencies. It takes only a few seconds to go to the EPLS website shown below, type in the consultants last name for a partial search, look at the list that is returned and see if they are excluded.
EPLS is the electronic version of the Lists of Parties Excluded from Federal Procurement and Nonprocurement Programs, which identifies those parties excluded throughout the U.S. Government (unless otherwise noted) from receiving Federal contracts or certain subcontracts and from certain types of Federal financial and nonfinancial assistance and benefits. Each exclusion includes the person or business, last known address, the code which can be "clicked on" to give you the reason for the exclusion, and the length of the exclusion.
Check out your possible consultant at this location: http://www.epls.gov/epls/servlet/EPLSSearchMain/1
You might find this a good cross check any time you are considering hiring a consultant to help you when seeking funding from any federal agency.
Note this only lists individuals or businesses that are EXCLUDED. There is a lengthy list of FAQ's to help you understand the information.
